CO2–extract of cocoa-shells is a light-yellow (with greyish tint) substance from liquid to dense pasty consistence, with pronounced, slightly sourish odour of cocoa butter, bitterish to the taste. The extract can be dissolved in alcohol or oils, but cannot in water. The extract is sterile and non-toxic. Extract of cocoa-shells contains lipidic fraction (mainly high-molecular fatty acids, including polyunsaturated), carotinoids, and more than 40% of white wax with polishing and emulsifying properties.
CO2–extract of cocoa-shells is recommended for using in biocosmetics preparations as a substitute of waxes, and as a biologically-active antioxidant.
