CO2–extract of field-mint is an oily substance from dense liquid to pasty consistence, with mint odour and taste. The colour is from deep-green to brown. The extract can be dissolved in alcohol or oils, but cannot in water. Extract of field-mint contains sapogenins, carotin, tannin, azulenes, flavonoids, tocopherol, phospholipids, polyunsaturated fatty acids, waxes, phytosterol, vitamin D, essential oils (menthol, menthone, menthyl acetate).
CO2–extract of field-mint has anaesthetic, bactericidal, and antispasmodic properties. Considerable amount of unsaturated fatty acids (vitamin F) gives to the extract-based preparations plasticizer property. Also extract of field-mint can be used as a sedative at heightened excitability, insomnia, neurosis. Since ancient times mint odour has been reputing as a remedy that can makes a good mood.
CO2–extract of field-mint is used in confectionery and drinks as addition with aromatizing, disinfectant, antispasmodic, and stimulating an appetite properties. Also extract of field-mint is used in household chemistry: in toothpaste and dentifrice water; in medicine: as a remedy which reduces skin itch, and dilates vessels of heart, cerebrum and lungs.
